May 8 ESAL Meeting Fibre Artist Dorothy Gallagher
Join us for a fun and informative presentation by local fibre artist Dorothy Gallagher at our Thursday, May 8 meeting.
Dorothy will demonstrate how she spins her own yarn using spindles and fibers from the local farmers.
She will also share her latest imaginative knitted works, using her hand-spun yarn. In the past, spinning wool and knitting were done out of necessity. Today, fast fashion and an abundance of options in the Plastics Age mean that fiber arts have taken on a new meaning.
Dorothy won Longest Yarn contests 25 times. She says she “Spins Around the World.”
Dorothy is an experienced artist and teacher in knitting, spinning, and embroidery. Her day profession is Software Engineering, and Health Informatics.
The public is invited to this free presentation which takes place at Christ’s Lutheran Church, 5330 Old Logan Ferry Road, Murrysville on Thursday, May 8, at 6:45 pm, in the upper-level social hall accessed through the right entrance door from the upper parking lot.
Members share in an art “Show and Tell” at 6:45 pm just after social time which begins at 6:15 pm. The hour-long program begins at 7:00, with the business meeting beginning immediately after a brief break.
