Christopher Ruane is Featured Artist at the April 3 ESAL Meeting

Christopher Ruane is an Augmented Reality artist and photographer from Pittsburgh, PA who specializes in massive photo and video montages, sometimes with thousands of individual layers – his work often focuses on spirituality, technology and the human experience. The complexities of each piece are made to be studied to reveal an inner meaning and viewpoint about our culture, the current climate of the world and what we believe to be the truth of our origins.

His work has been shown in museums and galleries across the United States and has been chosen for exhibitions by notable jurors from MOCA Cleveland, Andy Warhol Museum, Brooklyn Museum, and Carnegie Museum of Art. Christopher has also received awards from notable Curators such as Linda Benadict Jones and Art Historian John T. Spike, past Director of the Florence Bienniale.

In the last few years, Christopher and his work were featured in The Pittsburgh Post Gazette, The National Catholic News Service, The Washington Post, and The Huffington Post. He was awarded The Charles Dodgson Black & White Award at The Berlin Photo Bienniale and also received awards in PX3 Prix De La Photographie Paris and The International Photography Awards.

Most recently, Christopher has launched his second Augmented Reality App on the Apple and Google Play Store. He is a pioneer in the XR space and was recently awarded the Grand Prize Winner of the 2024 New Media Film Festival by judges from HBO, Marvel, and the Grammys for his work titled, Welcome to Export.

Be sure to see and hear from this amazing artist at the next meeting of ESAL!!

To Be Announced

ESAL is composed of photographers and artists working in all media from Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs. They meet monthly from Sep-Nov and Feb-May, to foster arts and crafts and to educate, inspire and encourage artists and patrons throughout this area. For more information call Nancy Dalverny at 412-373-0711.

ESAL meetings are usually held the first Thursday of each month (from September to May) at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of Christ Lutheran Church on Route 286 at Logan’s Ferry Road (in Northern Murrysville) and are highlighted by an informative speaker and/or arts and crafts demonstration by an area artist or expert in their artistic field.  Members are also encouraged to bring and show their artwork to the group.  The meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome.

Social time with refreshments begins at 6:30 and members’ artwork is showcased at 6:45 during “Show and Tell”. Our guest speaker program is 7:00 – 8:00, followed by the ESAL business meeting.
