Ian Whetstone

Ian Whetstone

Ian Whetstone grew up in the eastern suburbs around Pittsburgh, graduating from Gateway High School in 1998. He earned a Studio Arts degree at Pitt, and has worked there since the age of nineteen. He now resides in Level Green with his three children, all students in the Penn Trafford School District.

A lifelong hobby artist, in recent years Ian has sought public opportunity to share his work and passions. In 2023 he began entering local vendor shows and art festivals; and last year he entered his first juried art shows, taking home Best in Show from the Westmoreland Art Nationals WCCC, and Best New Artist from the Westmoreland Art Nationals WAHF.

At the ESAL presentation, Ian will focus on the process he uses to achieve the breathtaking works of art he creates. He will also share how arts presence in his life has changed over the years, and how that inspiration has evolved in his approach to art.

Be sure to attend this meeting – the first of our 2025 season – and one sure to inspire your appreciation of this amazing creative artist!
